I used to live by Embarcadero and would jog from the Bay Bridge up to Pier 39 and back in the mornings. There was always this kid playing the trumpet next to the Ferry Building. He was a cute kid, looking classy in his suit, tie, and fedora. Unfortunately, his playing was really not all that amazing. I loved his professional demeanor though, and the serious sign indicating his ambition to develop as a musician.

Since I dug up this photo, out of curiosity I googled his name to see whether he made it as a musician. To my pleasant surprise, the first thing that comes up is a video of him on Ellen! Apparently he did make a name for himself as the tap dancing trumpet kid. In his newest video, he’s definitely much more grown up now, and a bit less serious than he looked in this photo, but you can tell that he still loves his music and loves performing. Maybe he still hasn’t made it as a star, but he’s definitely a musician!
