I’m a little emotional today after the SCOTUS decision, if only to have the consolation of knowing that my country is not completely going off the deep end. Lately it just seems the world has gone crazy, and people care so much more about their differences than their similarities. I’ve always believed that as an immigrant, I have a much deeper appreciation for what it means to be an American citizen. There are freedoms I don’t take for granted, like the freedom to write this post without worried about my government censoring it. There are times when I think people abuse their freedoms, when they use the freedom of speech to hail cruel words at others, or twist the words of the second amendment to justify owning dangerous toys for the sake of protection. Then I acquiesce, because it’s still better than not having those freedoms at all.
