Even before I could remember, my parents were taking me along on road trips all over China. That tradition continued after we moved to the US. We didn’t have a lot of money, but all we needed was a car and a couple of tents, and we’d never run out of places to explore.
This photo was taken right after I finished grad school, and it was really the last major family vacation we had together. We drove all the way from Texas to California, I got a speeding ticket on my birthday, and missed my first day of work due to a delayed flight back. Still, it was one of the most fun and memorable experiences of my life.
Thank you for instilling in me the spirit of the explorer.
